The History of Regent Hall Band
by Richard Stock
Regent Hall Band
On Sunday 30 July 1882, the "Rink" Silver Band consisting of Trumpeter Sheard and 12 others marched along Oxford Street for the first time. One month later, with comrades marching four abreast, they marched through Marble Arch to hold the first Salvation Army meeting in Hyde Park.

The story of the Band is one of both people and place. The years have been rich in the number of real characters who have formed the band and moulded its progress, inspired by their experience of God at work in their lives. Behind it all has been the location of the Corps at the heart of the West End - General William Booth's inspired vision when he turned the former roller skating rink into God's house.
